Troubles with 3D-battles when trying the demo (still !)

Post by arralen »

Just want to know if there are any news about this rather old issue (see: matrixgames forum)

Have some trouble running the demo on my machine at home (ran fine with an ATI 9200? card at work, though).
Only a small part of units in a battle actually show up in the 3D display, and those are drawn in a rectangle. I guess those drawn are those that are currently active (hitting or getting hit, or dead ..), but I'm not shure.
Here's my setup:
4-1500/Asrock P4i45E R3.0, BIOS1.70/512 MB DDR266
GeForce 5200 (128MB), BIOS 4.34.20.22, Detonator 6.14.10.6177, @1152x864x32bit
CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio, C-Media 5.12.1.639 16.07.2002
Win2K SP4, DirectX 9.0c

I switched to Detonator .6703 meanwhile, but that didn't make any difference... .

And no, playing the battles in 2D is not an alternative for me, unless the 2D view gets more camera angles. I always feel I'm missing most of the battle if I use 2D.

Hmmm - I have never seen an issue like this on nVidia cards. I have an FX5700 and it is fine.

Could you check for any driver/setup level oddities (e.g. do you have forced mipmaps on, etc).

Cheers

I'm running standard settings - just did a clean install of the driver, no further tweaking.

Please check out the thread on the matrixgame forum, Ian already responded and promised to look into it - 6 month ago.

Btw., there was some else, running a 5700LE card, who experienced the same problem.

Have you tried running in a window? Sometimes you have slightly different internal driver paths. Just add the line:

FULLSCREEN 0

to the user.txt file in the DATA directory where the game is installed.

Cheers

Doesn't make any difference.

Neither does turning off or to application control of:
- Anti-Aliasing
- Anisotropic Filtering
- System Speed setting: quality or speed
- Force Mipmaps
- Texture Clamp
- Trilineare Optimizing
- Anisotropic Mip-Filter-Optimization
- Optimizing of anisotropic patterns (?)

hope the translations make any sense
