I have two questions about skirmish mode:
What difference does it make selecting a scenario vs. "Use Default Data" in the lower right of the advanced skirmish setup options?
Also, is it me or does the OOB selection seem to lag the historical availability of the units in question? I played a 1943 skirmish with a buddy and the best tank I could select as the Axis was a Panzer II. (?)

Really wish we could pick from every unit that was available at a given time...would happily scroll through a multi-page catalog of Eastern Front goodness. Also would provide for setting that puts cap on % of points that can be spent on any one unit type, ie prevent Russian OB constituted entirely of deadly T-26s

Or having to face 6 to 8 Tiger tanks with a handful of Soviet peashooters.

Re: Skirmish Mode:OOB availability and Scenario selection
From what I read the first Tiger 1's saw action in late August 1942 near Leningrad. Three were knocked out by Russian AT guns and a forth got stuck in the mud. Thereafter they were used on terrain more favorable to its weight. I know they are a fun weapon system to have and they make for happy gamers but that said, I think the German player gets too many of them. Given the current weakness of AT guns (one shot and they are dead) coupled with large number of Tigers makes it very difficult for the Soviet player to compete in skirmish games before the arrival to T34-85s and JS tanks.

Anyone know what difference it makes selecting a scenario vs. "Use Default Data" in the lower right of the advanced skirmish setup options?

Re: Skirmish Mode:OOB availability and Scenario selection
You can (although I don't think the base game does) have custom army lists or (IIRC) some custom script support in specific campaign, which is what that button is for.
