Maybe its because different game versions. Both of players had to intall or unistall the patch, to get the same version. Good Luck

I've moved your topic to the technical support forum as it sounds like you're having a technical issue unrelated to match making?

You are unable to connect to an opponent? Are you receiving an error message of any kind? What happens when you try to host for your opponent, and vice versa?

You can enable a direct connection if the hosting player opens port 1944 through their firewall/router. This will occur automatically if the games can connect directly. Otherwise they will connect through the Slitherine lobby. There is no option to bypass the lobby, if that is what you're looking for.
