What bugs? Do name them.

That's funny this is how 1.04 was for me all those problems disappeared with 1.05

HI Possum, no idea why yor system may be having problem swith 1.06 as its a lot quicker. Maybe try a clean install of the release version with 1.06 to see if some odd garbage has crept in somewhere. Johan may have some ideas as well.

Hi everbody!

I can´t understand why they have made one infantry_move_0 file? In my opinion that would be 2 files: one for infantry corps and one for infantry motorised corps. The game is very good but they have missed importent sound files.

For me, v1.06 is very much a disappointment, displaying several bugs and annoying behaviors which were not present in v1.04

As well, v1.06 is clunky, laggy, and sometimes just locks up completely for anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds. Particularly in scrolling I notice the difference. v1.04 scrolled very smoothly for me, but v1.06 is laggy and jerky, which gets incredibly annoying after a while.

After I have been running the game for 10 minutes or so, the game starts making an annoying little "clunk" noise at the end of every sound file it plays. Which is every time I move a unit!

Yes, I know what it sounds like, but I do have a gig of RAM, and I'm running the game with the exact same settings I used with v1.04

v1.06 just feels like unoptimised code, whereas v1.04 had a very smooth and polished feel to it.

Is it possible that something in the new Java update a few days ago caused a CEAW problem?

Windows XP Pro, SP2
Pentium 3.4ghz CPU
1 gig system RAM
NVidia GeForce 7600 GT

The thing I keep coming back to is the fact that v1.04 ran just fine on the same box with the same settings.
This sounds like a problem with the system or video card timers. Sometimes they will report incorrect values and make the machine try and render too fast - which actually leads to it buffering too many frames and appearing to lag or pause. Do you have the latest drivers for both your video card and motherboard?

Cheers

Standard reply, of course, but if this is the case why would it work fine with v1.04? Game load times from desktop to Main menu are the same as they were with v1.04, but loading a saved game takes forever, and while that saved game loading process is underway, the music cuts in and out in a most annoying way.

My video drivers were a little out of date, so I updated those to the latest WHQL drivers from NVidia. That didn't help at all.

I must confess I don't know what you mean by the term "motherboard drivers". Can you be a bit more specific, please?

As far as a re-install, I'm very leery of that. Every time I try to re-install a Slitherine game I bought on digital DL, there's always a snag with it wanting some damn number I don't have anymore, and it turns into a huge thrash.

Because the way that things are rendered and updated in the patch have been changed - hence the large performance improvements seen by most people in the patch. It may seem like a stock reply, but 9 times out of 10 it provides a solution to the problem.

You might also want to check that the control panel for your video card doesn't (for example) have vsync turned off.

Cheers

That may be your problem. Motherboard drivers are also called chipset drivers, they can have a big impact on performance/stability, esp as far as disk operations. I don't know what motherboard you have, anyway I'd rather recommend looking on the chipset manufacturer's site (like http://www.viaarena.com) not the motherboard's.

Also please do say what bugs did 1.06 introduce in your opinion. This is the second time when you make a claim and cannot be bothered to add any explanation.

I had an intermittent problem with the the previous versions but since 1.06 its permanent: when I am in zoom in overview the map is black. I updated my Direct X and video card drivers but with no success and reinstalled and patched the game. CEAW is the only game I have doing this :(

Can both (or indeed any) of you having technical issues with the new patch start a thread in the tech support fourm. Please supply your system specs and we can try and see if there is a common theme.

Thanks!

Otherwise I can say that the patch seems to have improved performances; units are moving very fluently and loading time is pretty short. Good stuff.
