I made a Fiat 626 truck to replace the stock "Italian Opel Blitz" with an Italian type. Full vanilla style, basically a modification of the latter icon. Thought I would post it here as there have been many Italian icons and some might need it.

Greetings! :)

Hello McGuba,

Could i use the truck for Roma Victor! 2? It is much better than the vanilla version. Thanks for considering.

Oh, I did not see yours, lol. Mine is not special at all, I just like to stick to vanilla style if possible. Thus I just edited the vanilla Italian truck a bit.

Of course you can. :) Anyone can use my icons as long as they do for a free mod.

Can you please add the Italian white cross to the Fiat 626?

Some other work I finished today:

The Italian HW infantry (Elite) unit "Battaglioni M". Loaded up with marching order, separate ammunition and food bags and the standard infantry helmet you could use this new storm troops in the hardest battles to win the fight:

A quick modification to the Fiat 626 icon uploaded previously in this thread. A very well done, PzCorps looking icon, just a little improved (in my opinión): Made the cargo bed cover with four "segments" (more like the original truck shown in the attached photograph) and added the white cross insignia. Also, be aware that Asuser previously made a very good set of icons for this truck, in a variety of versions, including one SP AA mounting the Breda 20 mm automatic gun.

Cheers!

Nice version, just the gun is too thick - it looks like a 76 or 85mm version (I took the gun straight from the vanilla 57mm AT gun).
guille1434 wrote:Uhu: Taking your good idea of making a T-34-57 icon vanilla looking but yet, identifiable from the standard T-34 with 76 mm gun, I made another variant of that unit, using parts of your icon, from bebro's, and a model image I had in my "units to do" folder... Mainly, I retouched the gun barrel and added the wheels from the model photo, to make it a liitle more different. Also, I developed two variants, one with the stowage boxes, and another cleaner one, without them. May be you, or someone find it useful.

And what about the ISU-122? Was it used often as artillery?
Razz1 wrote: The ISU-152 was made as an anti-tank unit.
It was very seldom used in an self propelled mode.
Doctrine dictated to use it as an AT unit. I don't think it should be in the game as an artillery piece.
Good point - I reduced the range of all Soviet switchable assault guns in arty mode to 2, except the SU-76.

[quote="Uhu"]And what about the ISU-122? Was it used often as artillery?

I feel that much of the role assumed by SP Artillery in the German and British armies (support of armored forces) was taken by mortars and rockets in the Soviet service simply because ammunition supply was always an issue for Tank Armies operating deep behind enemy lines. Certainly a 122mm SP Gun would have been useful in the role of indirect fire for Tank Armies but when a 120mm mortar towed by a cross country truck can get the job done with less ammo and less support. The Soviets ran their war on such a shoe string logistically that if you could get away with doing the job cheaper, they always took that option. At a time when the Infantry had a real and recognized need for an APC why would you give the artillery SP Guns for indirect fire when the armor is not really necessary and a dug in mortar can do the job?

During WW2 the Russians fielded a variety of self-propelled artillery pieces, such as the ISU-122 & 152s, but these were mostly used in a direct fire role.

1) The Russian doctrine was different
2) The self-propelled artillery was a very new concept
3) Logistics and supply limitations

Theoretically it was possible to use SUs as "normal" artillery, practically it must be rare practice. Note that Soviet self-propelled guns organizationally belonged to the armored arm not to the artillery.

Uhu wrote:Nice version, just the gun is too thick - it looks like a 76 or 85mm version (I took the gun straight from the vanilla 57mm AT gun).
Uhu: Gun barrels... a very difficult thing to draw accurately... I was looking at the vanilla 57 mm AT gun icon and the barrel was just one pixel thick, looking more like a long 37 mm or 45 mm barrel... And, you are right, my 57 mm gun version is two pixels thick, just like the regular 76 mm barrel. In consequence, I tried to redo the 57 mm gun and make it look like an intermediate between one and two pixels. I think it looks a little better now. Also I modified the stock game icon for the 57 mm towed At gun, to make things look more "uniform"...

I hope you find this icon a better one! Cheers!

PS: Also, I replaced the icons uploaded in the first post about this version of the T-34 tank.

Short before Christmas one of the last projects I finished are the new Italian Bridge Engineers:

For the troops you get two different transport vehicles, first the Fiat 626 with bridge equipment:

And second the Lancia 3RO from Guille with other bridge parts:

Now you have all the stuff to make crossing the wide rivers a lot more easier, have fun! :)

@Guille: Thanks for the new Soviet units. I would also like to make a request for T-35.

Hello to every member of this community:

First of all, I want to wish all of you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Second: may be or may be not, you noticed less activity tan normal in this thread... Well, not to worry, the reason is that I am very busy with my "real life" work, and had little time to spare. Besides, I was feeling a little "war weary". So, I took a rest, and I suppose it will not last much longer than the beginning of year 2014. So, stay tuned, because there still are a lot of projects in my "to do" list.

Asuser: A very special greeting to you, friend! Have a very happy Christmas and a very positive, full of satisfaction, new year! :D

Nikivdd: You are lucky! I "rediscovered" a T-35 soviet heavy tank project that was left "in the freezer" some time ago... Fortunately, it took me little time and effort to finish it to an acceptable quality to be able to be uploaded here for your, and everybody else's use. I hope you all like it!

Another "late year delivery"... This Romanian unit pack was made by me (and it also includes icons made by other authors, including Razz) answering a request by Razz, to use in his AA and AT mod. I was holding it up because I was in the process of making some versions of the IAR-80/81 fighter (based on Bebro's icon), and wanted to upload everything toghether, but now, as I know Nikivdd is starting to work on a Romanian Mod, I think this partial work can be useful. Also, I was planning to make a Romanian PZL P.24 fighter, but I saw that Nikivdd had an icon for this nice little fighter.

So here is the link to the Romanian Unit pack, a compilation of icons made by various authors, some of them, re-skinned to give the pack a more "uniform" look, and also including some original work by me, for example, the Maresal SP Anti-Tank.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/sco60w

(Also, I added this link to the first post of this thread, for future reference)

I hope you like it!

Cheers!

An update pack for the Pz III L... Just some retouches (gun barrel, mainly) and the usual group of different camo schemes.

Enjoy!
