Oh no Turk! Civil war and chaos beckons for Macedonia! Those ruthless Romans - no respect for kings! I think we are just waiting on the last two of the Selucid / Ptolemaic scraps and we can move on to turn two.

george123(Ptolemaic successor) 48/35
batesmotel(Seleucid Successor) 7/29
The Seleucid invasion of province 6 (I think, george123 can correct me if he thinks otherwise) has succeeded. One more Seleucid invasion battle to go.

We need to find a more capable Warleader perhaps civil war will see a a great Warrior emerge!!

Re: War for Civilisation II
I concur. The province is lost.
I would enact decimation if any of the cowards had survived!
Not the generals fault of course.

george123 (Ptolemaic Succssor) 34/33
batesmotel (Seleucid Successor) 23/29
The Seleucid invasion of province 10 has finally been successful after a long, dragged out fight that could have gone either way. Thanks for the game.

Turn 1 Battle Impact
Ulysisgrunt (Pontic) defeats Galatians and captures province 62 (and gains +1 Battle Point)
Turk (Macedonia) defeats Romans and captures province 55 (and gains +1 Battle Point)
Ian (Roman) defeats Gallic Hill Tribes and capture provice 42 (and gains +1 Battle Point)
Ian (Roman) defeats Syracuse and captures minor city 51 (and gains +1 Battle Point)
ChrisBM (Selucids) defeats George (Ptols) and captures province 10 (and gains +1 Battle Point)
ChrisBM (Selucids) defeats George (Ptols) and captures province 6 (and gains +1 Battle Point)
Other Events –
Tragedy and Chaos in Macedonia
The death of the Macedonian War Leader leads to the governor of minor city 63 to declare his city as independent from the Macedonian Empire. Next year, there is no war leader available for the Macedonians as succession is decided. The other great powers ponder the opportunities this poses.
Armies Destroyed
Province 9 – after the destruction of both Ptolemaic and Seleucid forces in the province, and faced by the remnants of these armies turning to banditry, the local governor renounces loyalty to the Seleucid Empire and moves to protect his people.
Turn 2 Random Event:
Defences Strengthened in Carthage (random event)
All Carthaginian forces defending their provinces are strengthened by +50 this turn.

Orders as soon as you are ready, warmongers.

Hi Jonah
At the risk of sounding bitter and twisted, shouldn't province 5 also shake off the shackles of their evil oppressors?
No offence Chris.

Only Turk and George left to send orders. Turn 2 promises to be brutal.

Re: War for Civilisation II
Diplomatic News:
Cementing recent territorial gains, the Seleucid expansionists sign a non-aggression pact with the battered Ptolemies. Whether this is a recognition of Seleucid gains or merely an opportunity to reorganise their forces before a renewed offensive, sources close to the Ptolemaic court differ.
Battles Imminent
Meanwhile Seleucid forces (400) march on the rebellious governor in province 9 (400-strong Seleucid defenders commanded by Jonah75)
Of greater significance is the news that the Seluecids march (400 strong) on Pontic-occupied Galatia (province 62), in an attempt to put Mithridates back in his box. (Pontic defenders also 400 strong).
The wrong footed Pontic leader (500), meanwhile, is personally leading his forces into province 61 (400 Greeks batesmotel), seeking to cement claims to Anatolian domination.
Confident Rome, fresh from triumph over Syracuse and Gallic Hills tribes, continue their subjugation of Gaul (400 Romans vs 400 Lowland Gauls commanded by George123/Neil).
A Roman consular army (500 points inc. war leader) marchs on the Illyrians of province 54 (400 strong, commanded by Turk), in a conquest that will bring them in easy reach of every remaining Macedonian province.
Macedonia, still plunged in chaos and without a strong leader seems ill-prepared to face the growing Roman menace. Relieved, however, by the absence of invasion fleets approaching in their time of weakness, the state directs is fury (400 strong) at the rebel governor of minor city 63 (450 Macedonians commanded by Greetings), who now styles himself as heir to Alexander!
Perhaps Macedonia will celebrate the news that resentful of growing Roman power and frustrated in their own expansion, the oligarchs of Carthage have invested in the Barca’s ambitious plan for a direct assault (500 Carthaginians) on Rome itself (500 Romans)! Peace between the giants of the Western Mediterranean is now unimaginable. Rumours that Macedonia and Carthage act in concert remain unsubstantiated.
Neil’s Ptolemaics, seeking easier targets than the pikemen of Selucia, send their fleet and their King (500 strong) to Crete (400 Greeks commanded by Jonah)

Re: War for Civilisation II
For Greeks, except where the battle is specifically against Spartans, Athenians etc I am proposing the 'Greeks' are represented by Helenistic Achaian - as I think the presence of pikes may accurately represent Greeks touched by the Successor methods of warfare, particularly the helenised minor states of Asia Minor.
