Request for sample Carthatinian army list

Post by PaulK »

Hi,

I've been reading over the main FoG site and saw the sample Roman army list that is used to describe the rules (page 32 according to the available sample). Is there any way to see the corresponding Carthaginian army list? That way it will be possible to have at least 2 "demo style" armies ready to go as soon as the rules are released. I'm not asking for any of the rules to go with the list, just a raw table with the corresponding opposition force to the "Army Under Sempronius".

This would be helpful to me because over the past few weeks I've been building up a "Hannibal-in-Italy" Carthaginian army and would like to have it be suitable in force for FoG "out of the gate" so to speak.

Thanks.

/Paul

The rules contain a Carthaginian list to oppose Sempronius.

I can't break my confidentiality agreement by giving you specifics but if you aim at a Carthaginian army at the time of the Trebbia you ought to do OK. In general the cav BGs are 4-6 and inf close combat 6-8 with skirmish sometimes being smaller though usually around the same size. Carth armies had approx 1.5 times the Roman numbers of cav with a break down of about 50% Spanish/Gallic and 50% Numidian (just roughly). Infantry at the Trebbia were around 1/3-1/2 African (including skirmish types), 1/4 to 1/3 Spanish and the remainder Gauls. The number of Gauls increased dramtically after the victory at the Trebbia. Work on these figures and I don't think you'll go far wrong.

I've posted our 1000ap Carthaginian army list from the Godendag competition this weekend on my website, as well as the lists from all 4 of our opponents (2 Romans, 1 Pontic, 1 Bosporan)

It's of course only what we used, not the full lists with all the options, but it may help

Fought Dan Hazlewood's Carthos today with Parthians. Best point for me was seeing that LH Bow can actually produce enough firepower to fragment and then rout HF. Something that would never happen in dbm.
