12 players registered for the tournament. It's going to be a good one!

and even better for you Philip, you get to play me in the first round - I think my 1814 French have even more poor conscripts than your Dutch horde!

Day One of the tournament was really good! We had 12 games in total, some mighty triumphs, some disasters, and I got two hard-fought draws. The Dutch-Belgian carabiniers, in whom I placed all my hopes, failed dismally. But my massed conscripts did great work and saved the army twice. The benefit of large units ignoring the first hit was really important, keeping poor quality troops in the game.

I'll post a more detailed report tomorrow.

Yup, great first day.

My unit of Old Guard, supported by the Grenadiers a Cheval, were responsible for messing up Philip's Carabiniers in the first game, while my conscript division (3 small units of poor conscripts) managed to hold off Philip's best infantry division - some how.

Sadly while the flanks did stirling work for me, Philip concentrated his 3 batteries of artillery in the centre which, together with some dutch infantry, routed my centre making it a bloody draw in the end.

My second game against Alan's Westphalians went even better - a 23:2 win to me. Again my poor conscripts, better supported by line infantry this time, held their own (against a Westphalian cavalry division) while my large poor chasseur unit beat up a small Westphalian Guard lancer unit on a flank (killing their BC was a great help). My Guard infantry was initially repulsed by the enemy foot, however it rallied to attack again - this time breaking through and taking the win.

Other notable results, the highly experianced and competant Andy Hunter led his 1809 Russian Moldavian army to a 0:25 defeat against relative newbie Richard (with 1807 Prussians). Andy has been exiled to Siberia and Kendall will sub in for hiom tomorrow for the next 2 games.

Meanwhile, it's business as usual for the all conquering Andy Duncan, whose 1812 Russians swept all before them picking up the maximum 50 points in his two games - his only loss in two games being a single spent cavalry unit! We'll sort him out tomorrow.

Cheers
Brett
