Southern League 2013
Welcome to the FOG Renaissance Southern League. Four one day competitions around the south to encourage local players to join us and have a little bit of fun, you can come to one or come to all, with your top three scores applying to the overall prize. Scoring will be 20pts to the winner, 17pts for 2nd, 15 points for 3rd, with each subsequent place reducing by 1pt. All entrants will receive at least 1pt.
The first round draws at each event will be random (keeping club mates separate in game 1), with subsequent games in each event allocated by Swiss System. In the event of 2 players on the same score matches will be allocated by the overall League placings.
Cost will be £10 per day and to cover hire of the venue, prizes and tea and coffee for the day. Pay on the day but lists before hand (they will count as confirmation you are coming) to alasdairharley@hotmail.com.
There will be 2 Competition Formats:
1. Format 1 - Three 2hour 40 minute games with preset terrain (relevant to the period). 9am-11.40, 12.00-2.40, 3.00-5.40. The Player who wins initiative chooses either the side with the other player moving first or vice versa.
2. Format 2 – Two 3hour 15minute games +/- 15mins. Normal terrain and deployment rules apply.
All events will start at 9am and finish by 6pm. As with all themed competitions please do not hesitate to let us know if we missed a list!

Round 1 - Oxford
• Date - Sunday 6th January.
• Venue - Oxford Wargames Club, Wolvercote Village Hall, OX2 8NX
• Format - 3 x 2hr 40min games
• Period - Early Turkish Expansion 1494-1566 Early Ottoman Turkish, Hungarian, Early Venetian Colonial, Wallachian, Moldavian, Transylvanian, Mamluk, Desert Bedouin, Knights of St John, North African States, Early Austrian Imperial, Caroline Imperialist in Africa, Aviz Portuguese, Tuareg, Anatolian Emirates, Aq Qoyunlu Turcoman, Safavid Persian, Settled Arab States, Zanj, Horn of Africa, Ethiopian, Central Sudanese, Western Sudanese
Round 2 – Central London
• Date – Sunday in late May/early June
• Venue – The Escape Sports Bar, 2 Lidlington Place, Regents Park, London NW1 2JU (2 minutes walk from Mornington Crescent tube)
• Format – 2 x 3hr 15min games
• Period - Revolution & Turmoil in the UK 1639-1688 Early Caroline English, Scots Covenanter, Scots Royalist, Confederate Irish, Early ECW Royalist, ECW Parliamentarian, Later ECW Royalist, New Model Army, Restoration British, Covenanting Rebels, Monmouth Rebellion,
Round 3 – Southampton
• Date - Sunday 22nd September
• Venue - Solent Wargames Club. Sarisbury Green Community Centre, The Green, Sarisbury Green, Southampton, SO31 7AA
• Format - 3 x 2hr 40min games
• Period - Early 16th century Europe, Date 1494-1555 Maximillian Imperial, Italian wars French, Trastamara Spanish, Italian States, Italian wars Venetian, German States, Early Henrican English, Later Henrican English, Scottish, Border Reivers, Irish, Anglo Irish, Peasant Wars (Not Hungarian), Caroline Imperialists(Not in Africa), Later Henrician English
Round 4 – Milton Keynes
• Date – Sunday late November/early December
• Venue – MKWS, York House Youth Centre, London Road, Stony Stratford. MK11 1JQ.
• Format - 2 x 3hr 15min games
• Period - Open Period Any list from any book.

already 5 definite entries and even 3 army lists, and of those only one is conventional, so be wacky have fun, try something different, see you in january and don't hesitate to let us know if you need to borrow an army

Never taken part in a competition before( only been wargaming 39 years) but tempted by the Southampton round just to get the lads out.
