I had the case of a spent cavalry unit, outside of command range, attempting an assault.
The wording on page 28 for assaults outside command range reads, "If the assault would normally require a CMT then 2 command points must be expended". This implies - to me - that one spends 2 command points but only rolls for 1 CMT....not 2 CMT but I could be wrong it might require 2 CMT - so, in the game, just to be safe I rolled the CMT twice.
I'm trying to find the wording that says how, in general, one handles the situation when multiple CMT conditions apply to the same move. Example, what if the following applies:
Assault through friends who are skirmishers, artillery or part of the same division
Assaulting when disordered or spent with units that are not guard, shock or impetuous
Any attempt to assault when out of command range
How many command points and CMT are required?
Cav assault outside command - multiple CMT

I am pretty sure it means that the cost of the 1 CMT is increased to 2 points; not that you need to do two CMTs. That's how we have been playing it.

Assault through friends who are not skirmishers, artillery or part of the same division
This is not possible. You can ONLY charge through skirmishers or artillery or through non-Broken infantry of the same division. This would cost 1 command point + a CMT. Outside of command range would add 1 command point cost.
Assaulting when disordered or spent with units that are not guard, shock or impetuous
This would cost 1 command point + another CMT. Outside of command range would add 1 command point cost.
So the total would be 4 command points needed for 2 CMTs. That's how I read it.

You're right. I was in typist mode and blindly typing from the table on page 44 where the word "not" should be deleted as per the erratum on that point.Blathergut wrote:Assault through friends who are not skirmishers, artillery or part of the same division

Edited accordingly.

Any move or attempt to assault that requires a CMT +1CP requires an additional CP if outside command range - i.e a CMT +2CPs
If the move or assault would normally require 2CMTs, then you'd have to find 4 CPs in order to make the attenmpt.
