Detecting Desktop or Touch Device?

The ereader seems to always come up by default with "Touch Device selected by default on my PC. Is this the expected behavior or should the ereader be able to automatically detect whether it is running on a desktop or touch device?

This is not something you select it's just for info as far as I remember - it doesn't change the way anything works.
