Multiplayer....Help???

While a friend and I are playing Multiplayer through Game Ranger, the game will get stuck "Processing AI". We have tried letting it sit for up to a half hour to "get caught up", but this doesn't seem to help. Our games are exactly the same download and both in 3D mode. We also tried 2D mode to keep the graphics down. We tried also playing on GameSpy Comrade and couldn't get that to work. Kept loading the game without being in Multiplayer. This rarely happens in single player. Any ideas? Thanks board!!!!
