BRITCON LISTS - URGENT

Post by shall »

There is a little confusion that I need to clear up For Britcon: you can choose any lists from the beta lists file or up to 3 of the ones listed on the FoG competition rules page.

I probaly should have been a bit clearer in my instuctions and epxlained the reasoning.

I have updated beta lists sealed at a certain time so there is no gaurantee you have the latest version
unless you have asked for the updates
- that's all.

I was doing this to keep track of armies under consideration to see how the process went. The final choice is just part of the usefl data.

It is useful information beyond the final choices to see which ones people have narrowed down to if you all see what I mean.

So if you want to consider an army from the beta list what I want is for you to ask for the updated versions once you are at serious consideration stafe - sucjh a request is not one of your 3 extras.

No doubt trhe badnits amonst you will ask for them all nd that's finse as long as you tell me sperately which ones you are giving serisous consideration to so I can track the data.

All part of analysisng army choice and the points system.

So in that sense Dave getting down to 4 was a fine achievement!! Sorry Dave

Hope that makes sense. No doubt 30 e-mails will be waiting for me tomorrow morning.....

I am also going to send out a format for lists as well to help me with the checking.

Also consider the scoring system most recently publichsed on the web after Lawrences amendments to be the one to be used.

That's it for now........

The BHGS BRITCON page still has the original scoring system.

I assume you wil be using the one posted in the "Proposed Britcon Scoring" thread on this forum.

all if the scoring system is being changed it needs to be posted to the BHGS web site. It also must be a checksum 32-0 to conform to the Britcon Scoring system, otherwise I dont mind how its done. Remember this is for this years Britcon and will likely be changed later

Scoring System

The scoring system has been set to be 32-0 to work with the existing technology. It was developed for Roll-Call and rather succesfully applied there.
It is the latest version that lawrence tweaked on the thread on this site. I will get it altered on the BHGS site details as soon as James has confirmed that he has the last version - but it is 95% as published originally - just tweaked a little.

Entries

In terms of entires we now have 27 in total. I have only 4 who have not yet requested lists as far as I am aware - but please correct me if you have and I missed logging them somehow. These are

Mark Taylor
Steve Sykes
Matt Poole
Roger Greenwood

I am away on Saturday for 6 days so it would be wise to request any lists before then chaps. 18 other players are actively considering their options, and 5 have actually committed themselves for far. And a good spread of armies have come up including....

Nah that's a secret of course!!!

Still room for a few more if anyone is interested. I have a spreadsheet format that I find useful that anyone can have by return. It even contains the army I will be bringing if we are odd numbered so I can make up the bye so that veryone gets a game. ANCIENT BRITONS. And no I will not wearing a dress and padding!

List Deadline

I need lists to me please by morning of Saturday July 28th please. I shall be checking many a list on that day. That is an extra day for you on the two week deadline so please hit that date for me. If you miss that date then don't be surprised if you are asked to make changes very late in the day as my next checking day is likely to be a full 7 days later - so it is in your interests to hit the first one.

E-mail address is siathedgecroft@aol.com lest anyone doesn't have it. If you don't have e-mail, you won't be reading this, so no need to put my address here! If there is anyone you know who hasn't access then please e-mail on their behalf.

Rules

The rules to be used will be the last full circulation form JDM - vs 6.0 - along with the official updates on this forum as have been posted by Richard at the time. We do not anticipate any major tweaks between now and the event - just the odd word tidy here and there.

Here's to a great event overall and to the FOG comp - thanks to all of you for entering. I am looking forward to it very much.

Si

PS Please note there is an event at around 5pm on Friday well worth attending..... Ron Challen is a chap who actually worked for Eisenhower and knew most of the WW2 allied greats. He is an elderly man now, but a fascintating person to meet. He will be showing a DVD of his and answering questions on Friday afternoon. He will also be guest of honour on the Sunday giving out the WW2 prizes. Please come along and listen before tucking into the big games later - let's be honest the odds of not finishing an FOG game in the long time available is pretty low!

Remind me, what are the times for the Friday game? It is a long time since my last visit to Britcon. (Are the games times in fact stated anywhere on the Britcon information pages?)

The Friday game starts any time up untill 9:00pm and has to finish by midnight

After a bit of digging I found it on the delegate info page

"1 st ROUND COMPETITIONS FRIDAY EVENING
The start and finish times for the first round games are flexible, however they will not start later than 9pm. Nor finish later than Midnight. After a minimum period of 3 hours has been played (this may differ for individual periods) the game will end when one player has defeated the other, or by mutual consent. In any event no bounds or game turns may be commenced after 11.45pm. (Variable Game duration) "

Hope that helps

Just an Update

As of this mroning I have about 20 lists in with me. The first 7 were perfect other than a few cosmetics - well done chaps!

One request - please could you put your NAME on the actual list.

I print them off to check them and a couple of times I have ended up taking longer to log on and open several files and e-mails to remind myself what e-mail it came attacehd to than checking the list itself. Ta.

I am awaiting final list of entries from JD later today - 30 or thereabouts by the sound of it.

Note dealine for list in was today - so please givvy along those last 10 as much as you can. I will want to post the list of armies next week. Nice mix.

I will update late today.

Thanks

Simon

This is a constant problem I have with checking Godendag lists. The trick is to write the player's name on it when you print it out. (Though why the culprits don't think of doing so themselves escapes me).

Having just gone through all the lists this morning/afternoon ...........

1. Thanks to everyone for the effort put it in - it was much easier that previous checking I have done

2. 20 lists now in and another 8 due in by end of Monday evening - please get them sent to me by then - private reminders have gone out. Apologies if anyone has submitted and something has gone astray.

3. Of the 20 lists only 3 have I had to query at all - everything eslse has been purely cosmetic improvements to put all the info on the sheets.

4. We have 17 different armies represented in the 20 so far so a good mix.

5. Once I have the list of choices complete I shall put it up on here so that banter can begin - I really can't see anything that can stand up to my Ancient Britons yet - oh Ok maybe a dozen or so of the armies will give it trouble !!

6. There will be a few 1000pt a side double warm=up game on the Friday afternoon if anyone wants to join in

7. AND DON'T FORGET THE MAN WHO KNEW EISENHOWER AT 5pm

More news soon

Don't want to be picky Simon but is there not an error in your own lists as with an IC and 10 lh/cav should you not have 3 points rather than 2. Bet I get egg on my face from this.

Its an old list just for formatting. I will fill in by playing whoever gets the bye if we are an odd number. Might even bring a couple of other armies if i have time - unusual things like the Hussite for instance.

But full marks for spotting the deliberate mistake - not. Winner of a free beer from the umpire.
