Holy **** ! Battle for France By The Book!

Post by IanF1966 »

This is spooky...

Using the weekly turn mod I decided to try to emulate the German invasion of the low countries and France...

MAY 10th 1940

From Wiki:

In World War II, the Battle of France, also known as the Fall of France, was the German invasion of France and the Low Countries, executed from 10 May 1940, which ended the Phoney War.

The battle consisted of two main operations. In the first, Fall Gelb (Case Yellow), German armoured units pushed through the Ardennes, to cut off and surround the Allied units that had advanced into Belgium. The British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and many French soldiers were however evacuated from Dunkirk in Operation Dynamo.

In the second operation, Fall Rot (Case Red), executed from 5 June, German troops outflanked the Maginot Line to attack the larger territory of France. Italy declared war on France on 10 June.
The French government fled to Bordeaux, and Paris was occupied on 14 June.
After the French Second Army Group was forced to surrender on 22 June, France capitulated on 25 June.

For the Axis, the campaign was a spectacular victory.
And for me...

I built up the Air Force after the fall of Poland with TAC bombers and FTRs and added a few new MOT Inf and INF Corps.

Took Denmark and Norway to historical schedule and sat tight.

I placed Guderian, Manstein and Kesselring on my 3 ARM's and behind them placed follow up MOT's behind them followed by INF.

May 10th, plastered Dutch and Belgium units with TACS and FTRs and hammered them.

Pushed forward, only attacking with odds of at least 3:1 in worst cases.

Hammered French units with TACS and used Armour to smash them, advanced or encircled then followed up attacks with Motorised to finish off the defenders and Infantry to mop up or hold in place any remaining forces.

Repeated until France fell.

Also during this time from Sept 39, built up a total 4 Subs, 1 STRAT bomber and research Dogfight 1 and Subs 1.

I can't wait For Barbarossa...

????????
how did you build that imposing array of stuff?

I calculate that as costing about 1300 pp

through May 1940 Germany gets about 900pp and only if you attack Denmark and Norway early.

Then you have to deduct some points for repairing units.

I don't understand??
