Convoys should lose strength when unescorted?

Post by Plaid »

I believe they should, because its now almost normal practise to ignore escorting like "ok some will be sunk and some will go through...still cost less then escorting, we are ok with it".

Maybe instead of convoy strength losses they should spawn with delay after completely destroyed or something like this. Or maybe sub should just score much more damage when attacking convoy. Under current rules even with huge sub fleet of 8 flotillas you will hardly destroy 2 of 3 convoys, even when they are completely unescorted.

Anyone have some good ideas about it?

I sort of like the idea of unescorted convoys losing strength each turn. What about something like at the end of the allied turn each convoy with no allied ships adjacent lose 0 to 20% of their PP's (random) and each convoy with only 1 ship adjacent lose 0 to 10% of their PP's (random). Convoys with 2 or more adjacent ships lose 0.

Would this not truly hurt the Allies? Early on, your ships are around Britain and unable to fight the subs. You lose at least one convoy to the subs themselves. To lose a chunk off each of the others each turn would be crippling.
