Army Break Points

Post by Old_Warrior »

I am wishing that army break points were based on the type of units rather than number. Is there any way that the Scenario Editor (at least) could have an adjustable number for break point? This way 10 cataphract units could have something like 17 for a break point instead of say 12. The designer could change the value which would increase or decrease based on introducing units to the battle.

Most board games I have played have this feature - the army break point is not based on the number of units but the particular setting. For instance:

Crusader army of great units vs. Arabs. The Crusader army breakpoint allows them to sustain more losses percentage wise than the Arabs. Arab break point would be at less than normal level.

It seems to me that the more units in the game the better your chances of winning.

I 100% agree and would love to be able to set BP'S on an individual unit basis, even to 0 in apropriate situations.

edit: also have to add in my 100th request that BG's can be created in the scenario editor that can be disrupted fragged at the start of the scenario, and be allowed to be set with less than their nominal % strength to simulate prior casualties attrition, fatigue, campaign aid, whatever:)

The old "horde" discussion :D
I think it quite balanced as it is. The so called horde armies wouldn't stand a chance if you changed it like that.
Look at the results for Jewish Revolt so far in the league:

(Jewish Revolt) 83/119
(Bosporan) 48/47

(Jewish Revolt) 88/119
(Foed Romans) 36/35

(Jewish Revolt) 109/119
(Palmyran) 49/49

(Jewish Revolt) 123/119
(Early Picts) 53/66

(Jewish Revolt) 124/119
(Sciri) 32/47

(Jewish Revolt) 135/119
(Dacian) 33/51

Three pretty hard fought wins and three losses. Imagine the Judeans lowered to 75-80 or the Romans being something like 50-55...
No, if the strengths of the BG:s are balanced the end result will be fine with the current system I think.
