Auto Updater Still Not Working

Hi,

I've followed advice and clicked on 'Check Game for Updates' in the main menu after the game loads up BUT this still takes me to an info screen with no links to any downloads.
Is there any way I can access the upgrade ?

I've tried Matrix Games but they only cover 1.3 - this is very frustrating since I was going to purchase the expansion games but I'm not sure now if this problem persistes.

For some reason I think you're still clicking on the wrong thing

Run the game and you see a launcher window pop up.
Choose to play/load the game.
At the main menu you'll see a full screen image with the FoG logo in the background and a list of about 10 buttons on the right of the screen. In the bottom left you will see a version number and information about which army packs you have installed and which are pre-loaded.
If you do not see this you are not at the main menu. Please go to the main menu.
Click the button labelled "Check for updates".
A pop up window will tell you if you are up to date or not.
If not it will give you the option to download the latest update.
Choose to download and it will close the game, download the update and when you click Done, restart the game.

Can you confirm exactly what you see and what you do as there is no way the game can open the webpage you're suggesting - it has no functionality to do it.

Hi,
I load up the game and a window appears - to the left is news about games and updates and a
'Check for updates in the game' - when I click on this it takes me to the website via the 'Slitherine Launcher'. but only to an info page and no download.

Bottom left I see V1.1.2 but no info about army packs etc... and no other 'Check for updates' link.
Suggestions -
a. I could re-install the game.
b.I could download a later version from Matrix games and see if this has the updater.

Although I can't see why you don't just post an updater link on your website for all your games.

You are not in the game, you are going to a news item from the launcher !

Please run the game and from the main menu click Check for Updates.

Follow the instructions above again!

Hi pbold,

If it helps, I will tell you what I do to get to the updates button:

1) Press the FOG icon on the desktop. This will lead to a medium sized orange box. On the left of this box are some website links including a 'check for updates'. IGNORE THIS. On the right are 3 brown buttons 'Register' 'Cancel' 'Ok'

2) Press 'OK'. This will take you briefly to the black loading screen with the three company logos on it. Then you will get an orange screen that fills the whole page. On the left is a picture of a cavalryman with a spear. On the right is a column of brown buttons. The button second from the botton is the 'Check for Updates' button. This is the one that will do the updating for you (hopefully!)

If this sequence doesn't work then you've got something wrong and maybe you will need to download it all from scratch.

I do not get a button saying updates I see the screen you refer to but nothing on the left - I've installed the game onto a new laptop because i thought it may be my PC
but still no button you refer to.

I think its time I took this to trading standards it just doesn't work surely 2 systems can't fail its the CD - can I have a new
one ?

when you get to the full screen game page, what buttons do you see on the right? Also, is there a version number and other information in the bottom left corner in a whie font. If so, what does it say?

pbold says he sees ver. 1.1.2. Was the auto updater even available with this earlier version. Shouldn't he download ver 1.33 and install that? Just my two cents.

Yes, he needs to download 1.3.3 then.

Ahh ok I see. The version we supply now is 1.3.3 or later so you must have installed a long time ago and not updated? Sorry for the confusion and this is why we were looking for a version number. Yes you need to download the installer to get the updater which will then keep you up to date.
