Bit fuzzy on this...

and have just started playing this game again in over a year, but didn't Armour use 4 Oil per turn? Right now, with GS 1.06, I'm seeing 2. Is this part of the mod or am losing it?

Armor units start with 2, but get oil increases with improved tech (armor will increase 2 levels and
blitzkrieg plus antitank one level each). So in GS v1.06 you will see that the Pz II's will use 2 oil
while the heave King Tiger II's or Maus'es will use 6 oil. Pz III's will probably use 3 oil, Pz IV's and
Tigers will use 4 oil while Panthers will use 5 oil.

I was curious about this steep increase in fuel cost with improved tank technology. I can see King Tigers using a lot more fuel, but I was surprised that the more sophisticated Panther would use more than twice the fuel of a PzII. Particularly it seems that the Panther should not use more fuel than the heavier Tiger, as it substituted sloping armor for thickness/weight and gained more mobility. I found this table:

If this is true, and Pz II and Pz III use 2 oil, then Pz IV might use 3 and Panther/Tiger would use 4 at the most. 5 seems harsh for the Panther.

In GS v2.0 the max consumption of armor is 5 (not 6). So panther's / tiger's use 4.

King tiger's and Maus'es use 5. Pz IV use 3. Pz III use 2 or 3.

yes, but don't you have to double this?, one for the tanks move and again for the attack (unless of course you don't need to move).
so to move and attack a panther unit uses 10 oil?

Yes, it will cost 10 oil, but by the time you will get ultimate tanks you will either be winning or you will have not so many of them left
