Wars of the Roses

Post by stockwellpete »

I am new to this game and I have been playing online for a few weeks now. I have already met a few of you online who enjoy the Wars of the Roses battles in "Storm of Arrows". I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there with a particular interest in this period of history. If so, let me know and we can hook up for a game.

I work in a public library and I have just got my hands on a new book about the Wars. It has a rather inventive title too - it is called "Wars of the Roses" and it is written by Michael Hicks (ISBN 978-0-300-11423-2, 2010). Anyone read anything else that was good about all this?

War of the Roses is indeed fascinating for me, i knew about that particular "Crown struggle" buying the tabletop game "Kingmaker" i own the very firts edition of it.

I liked the way alliances changed during the war and i want to understand more the blackmailing behind the curtains (Richard III by shakespeare gives a taste of it i think).

For wargaming miniatures i tried some battle with DBA or DBM and armies were most foot men at arms, not the best for me, but i should try a battle :D
Multiplayer records:
Battle Academy 2: Won 1 - Lost 3
Pike and shot: Won 4 - Lost 4

Yes, Kingmaker is a fabulous board game - I still have a copy too. Well, we are already in touch and playing each other so we can play some Wars of the Roses battles in the future now. :D
