Editor ? Number 4 / Fixed / Deploy

Post by junk2drive »

Pressing buttons in the editor I see that 4 removes the floating icon. What does that do for the game?

Pressing the deploy button doesn't do anything obvious?

I removed fixed from a unit. Started the battle and nothing changed. I was trying to see what allows:

A. moving a unit in setup
B. purchasing a unit pre setup

EDIT I put units on map, pressed deploy mode button, saved, started game and I could move everyone whether fixed or not fixed. Still couldn't purchase anyone.

To purchase, you need to take them out of "fixed" mode, and give your scenario force points (buy points) ... all done with the editor.
You know how to add buy points right? Just above the Load/Save button ... "Points to spend on Non-fixed units" ... tool tip, arrows increase decrease.
If you need to have specific buy points then ... open the BAM with NotePad++, you can hand-edit the buy points, amongst other things, like reseting AI Points ( to 0,0 ).
Note ... buying points only work for Side0, not Side1.

the keys 1 to 4 set the status of the unit. Only 0, 1, and 2 status values are used (normal, silver, gold) so the third level isn't set up with any icon info.

The deploy button just allows for a deployment phase when you start the battle.

I open the editor. Load a campaign. Back to the map screen. I select units which defaults to Allies. Increase the points to 400. Place 4 US infantry units and leave as fixed. Place 4 British infantry and using the F key remove the fixed label. I switch to Axis, place 4 German infantry across the map. I save as markertest. Exit.
I edit my campaign text with markertest. I start the game, select the battle, I get the screen with my units but no purchase.

If the unit total is less than the points you have then everthing gets automatically purchased.

The update includes ways to track the cost of units and the total cost of un-fixed units.

I pasted a row of icons to the bottom and coloured them. Press 4 and there they are. Merr and I can use this for something until Pip adds something to stock.
