I am sure there is someone here who can help me - after my most recent game with my crack troops running away, I realise that I don't know the rules as well as I thought.......
How does troop quality improve combat and cohesion?
All I can find in the help files is that high quality troops (elite and superior) have to take much higher casualties before they autorout.
But do they get any POA + in combat, or do they get any dice roll plus in cohesion tests?
Many thanks for enlightening me!

Superior troops reroll 1s on "to hit" rolls, cohesion tests and most complex move tests. In practice this works out as equivalent to roughly half a POA for hits, plus they are more likely to remain steady if they lose.
Elite troops reroll 1s and 2s.
Poor troops must reroll 6s.
A commander with (or ? adjacent to) the unit ramps up the re-roll level by 1. (Poors don't reroll 6s, averages re-roll 1s, superiors re-roll 1s and 2s, Elites re-roll 1,2 & 3s - all on "to hit" rolls only).
If you turn on the mode that shows your dice rolls, you will see these re-rolls in action, at least for hits.

Many thanks!
The level of developer support makes a huge difference to me - the games that I tend to stick with longest have active forums, and developer presence is a key way to ensure an active forum. I love being able to ask a question and get an official answer within minutes!
As an aside.....there must be search technology out there that can be a better way to organise these forums than by thread......I'd be very happy to spare your valuable time (so you can get on with the next expansion!) if there was a way to search on this rather than ask.

There used to be a search function but there was some technical problem with it, so it was removed.davouthojo wrote:As an aside.....there must be search technology out there that can be a better way to organise these forums than by thread......I'd be very happy to spare your valuable time (so you can get on with the next expansion!) if there was a way to search on this rather than ask.

I should also mention that I am not one of the developers of the PC game - just one of the developers of the original TT game on which it is based. This does, however, give me some understanding of the nuts and bolts of the internal workings of the PC game, since it uses almost exactly the same method of combat resolution as the TT game.
