Standard for Roger I or Roger II of Sicily?

Post by miros »

Any ideas on a standard for Roger I or II of Sicily? Have looked through my books and online and can't find anything.

Thanks,
Jason

I found three different arms being ascribed to the Guiscard and Hauteville families.

First is Or a lion rampant gules http://www.heraldry.ws/html/hauteville.html

second is azure a bend checky gules and argent http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Blaso ... eville.svg

the third is gules two lightining bolts argent http://www.wishart.org/guiscard.html

so not sure which one is right, even earlyblazon.com doesn't have it and usually they are pretty good.
