Multiple Complex Move Tests in a Phase

A situation arose in the 1st round of Cold Iron today that I made a ruling on and need clarification.

In joint action, a BG of armoured cav is starts in contact with a BG of routing medium foot. The player argued that he could roll a CMT to stop pursuit but if he failed he would be able to roll another CMT to stop short of another BG of enemy foot that was within 5 inches.

My position was that he would not get two CMTs in the phase. Looked in the CMT section and did not see anything to that effect but seem to recall this having been clarified earlier.

I don't believe there is anything to say you cannot have 2 CMTs in a phase - mind you off hand the situation you had is the only case that springs to mind where you would have the chance of 2.

Since each reason to test was a seperate event you would get a chance to test for each.
