Div C

Vuk Teble as Burgundians defeats mcfcivo English Continental

60-34

Map use really dominated this battle. In the center I arrayed my cannons and longbowmen with stakes on the slopes above a river, Andy approached the hills on the opposite side of the river and I shot up a fair amount of units to pieces allowing my dismounted knights to cross and defeat what was left standing. On my right flank my four units of Low Country spears and two Lesser MAA's crossed the river in the face of three MAA's and some Irish light cav. I was able to defeat this flank, but it took a fair amount of maneuver and the delay meant my lesser MAA's never managed to catch rallying units of his fleeing from the center. On my left flank I was swept away. I managed to hold and then dispute a rough hill just to the left and forward of my main line for half of the battle, but past that I had very limited success with what was effectively a delaying force of crossbows, maa's, dsmt'd maa's, lesser maa's. All of these units were broken and only some raw crossbowmen rallied. Probably i should have forgone the stakes in this one as no units ever got close enough to them to matter, or if they did it was on a flank behind the stakes.Without their extra cost I probably would have had one more unit on my left flank to hold things together a bit better.

Great match Andy, thanks!

Division B

Maeglyr - Berbers (Murabit)
defeated
Solemnace - Byzantines (Italie)

65-34
The Byzantines raised an army composed exclusively of cavalry, except for a small local garrison on foot.
The Murabit also had a strong mounted contingent but raised a large number of spearmen and archers on foot,
preferring quantity to quality.

The Berber mass was able to deceive and trap several enemy elite units.
Many were sent to a certain defeat to drive away the formidable Klibanophoroi and Tagmatic regiments.

A heavy price to pay, certainly, but which proved sufficient to demoralize the idolaters.

Division C:

SirMichael gains two hard fought victories versus Vuk Teble

Baltic over Polish 60 - 53 and Polish over Baltic 65 - 43

The Baltic foot are nasty hard hitting impact troops. It is all about surviving the first impact, then they are manageable. Two hard fought battles which on several occasions I thought I would lose.
