Became Defender when I was moving to Region

Hallo,

maybee someone can explain this to me.
Turn 1 I changed my general to a coward general and moved from my capital to attack the mountain region south.
To my suprise i became the defender and got all the terrain defence bonus.

This happend only to this general and also only on Turn 1.
If I assigned him Turn 1 and attacked Turn 2 i am the attacker.
If I assign him Turn 2 and attack Turn 2 still i am the attacker.
Other generals / no general still i am attacking.

On the screenshot it looks like they splitted the army to 3/1
Dacia/Turn1/Very Hard
