mh5064 SAMNITE 355-272 BC defeats principesromanes Romans 199-106 BC with Moorish allies 61-53.

Truly a great game that could have gone either way right up until the end. The Samnites won the hotly contested battle for a gentle hill sprinkled with a few patches of rough while the Roman and Numidian elephants wrecked the cavalry and Samnite foot on the other flank. The Romans blame their defeat on the sub-general on the hill comitting devotio in despair at his loss - only to have his death trigger a panic in the middle of his lines.

Challenge1 Gallic 300-101 defeated Warg1 Roman 105-25BC 60 - 40

A wide open plain where the Gauls tried to use their cavalry superiority in numbers but were mostly thwarted by
the Roman cataphracts. The mediocre and raw cohorts were routed quite early which allowed the gauls to isolate some of the main battle line but the Roman steadfastness was frightening to witness. Luckily for the Gauls the Romans had brought enough inferior infantry that they were able to target and just get over the line.

After the two armies put all their forces in exchanging arrows, the infantries advanced cautiously across the stream that separated them. Arrows continued and many units were disrupted, but ultimately superior infantries won the day.
