An option that I have seen in other posts is to reinforce the super-glued cross member (once dry) with some thread - wound around to make a ball and then super-glued as well.
Have yet to try this myself!

Nice looking embossed pattern, Macedonian stars are always good. Apart from the upturned anchor you could think about an elephant and also a god like head for Antiochus - something akin to what LBMS has done for Alexander. Another option would be a crescent moon and the star. Laurel wreath could als...

The Monvert publication on the Achaemenid Persian Army by Duncan Head argues against shields for both early and late cavalry - though there are comments for later Babylonian colonist cavalry with shields. It is suggested that these are for use dismounted (saying guarding the camp at night). WRG book...

Irondog Not sure if you have seen Scott's Blog but I find it full of useful information. He did a series of informative articles on the WF Romans - facing the same issue you have raised. http://macpheesminiaturemen.blogspot.com/2008/11/wargames-factory-romans-table-of.html Hope this is helpful. As noted above, the best source for Mithridatic emblems and the like are the coins of Pontus for the period. Check with Mr Google. Seems that Mithridates used the Macedonian 8 rayed star with a crescent moon on its back below it. He also used at various times a gorgon's head, Perseus and his winged ...

FS Good question - I have no clear answer unfortunately. Not sure if you have seen the DBA Fanatici site but if not suggest you check - http://www.fanaticus.org/DBA/eyecandy/index.html. Not sure that they will have the 'right' camp set up for the Successors but they have lots of bright ideas. I was ...

Thanks again - Plutarch is on the shelves, Dio Cassius I will have to look for. Have found the Jeff Jonas web site useful, albeit focused on WAB. http://www.ancientbattles.com/index_01_AncientBattles.html. His section on Successors in particular, the extracts under 'Pike versus Legion' is a good stu...

Rob Both Warlord and Wargames Factory have more releases in the pipeline - Dacians by Warlord would nicely complement their early Imperial legionaries for instance. Suggest you check out The Miniatures Page for various comments on the new plastic ranges, take one of the latest for example: http://th...

Pontic Pikes and Legionaries - 28mm
I am re-hashing/up-dating my Pontics after a long absence from wargaming and was hoping I could get some thoughts on the FoG list. You are allowed to mix a limited number of imitation legionaries with pike - I am always curious why this is so? Did not Mithridates raise Roman style troops only after ...

Dave - the better plastics - Zvezda, HaT and Orion come out at 23/24mm compared to current 28mm metals, they are smaller all round. Have a look at the Orion web site for their Assyrian seige machines. Not sure if anyone makes these in metal for 28mm? Your other option is simply use plastics on 28mm ...

Crusader Miniatures (28mm) have just released a Thracian range which has a quite atmospheric standard bearer with a half moon on a pole (garlanded by some 'trophy' heads). Maybe an email to Crusader might elicit some information about the provenance of this! Might just be a flight of fancy of course...

Dave I have been mainly looking for 28mm but do look at the 15mm Essex Miniatures catalogue. They have various figures that will fit in both categories and by mixing and matching from various ranges you will get a lot of variety. You could also try Old Glory UK. If looking at bits and pieces for a c...
