Probably a silly question, but writing an 800 point army i came across a BG size of 4-8 bases per BG. Could i pay for 5 or 7 and set up as rectangular as possible?

My reasoning basically is that at times i have a few points left and that one more base will top me up nicely to 800!

Hiya. This sounds awfully complicated. If a BG had only one base in the rear rank, then you are right, they wouldnt fire at all owing to the ratio of bases at the back. You will need a minimum of two bases to qualify for the one shot from the rear rank.
