Games similar to Panzer Corps?

Now that spring is finally here in the States (hopefully  ), my thoughts inevitably turn to summer, the Steam Summer Sale, and what I want to add to my library for play over the winter.

Anyone care to recommend any games similar to Panzer Corps? Especially the single-player campaigns?

Re: Favorite Artillery unit

If you have glider transports allocated in the scenario you can use them to land the 75mm anywhere. The downside is that you can't choose which transport to use and simply get what is next in line, so you might not be able to use a glider until all the Ju52 are in use even if one is available. The ...

Re: Favorite Artillery unit

I never used them much before my most recent start, but I gotta say that I'm loving my 75mm ever since I started using Fallschirmjagers more frequently as 'behind the lines' troublemakers. Pop that bad boy into a plane and give those paras some supporting fire! I haven't gotten it a hero yet, but I...

Re: Scripting AI unit spawn/behavior at particular location?

Thanks, dalfrede & captainjack.

There's a lot more going on with scripting than I have the skill to make use of right now, but I appreciate all the help and information.

Re: Scripting AI unit spawn/behavior at particular location?

Spawning won't work, the AI is mindless. :D The key is to place units with triggers. The unit appears when the trigger is activated. Set AI behavior to: 'Attacker' or 'move to' , and set AI zone to where you choose to retake. These units can be placed somewhat randomly, the last option on Unit Para...

Scripting AI unit spawn/behavior at particular location?

Are there any tutorials on scripting AI unit spawn and behavior?

I'm trying to figure out how to get the AI to spawn reinforcements at a particular hex (or set of hexes) and then have them move into attack positions or retake cities that have been left open.

TIA for any info.

Glad it worked out for you. :) To open the .pzeqp file: Instead of double-clicking the file (or choosing "open" when right-clicking), right-click and choose "open with". This will give you a list of programs to choose from. You may have to browse for Open Office Calc the first t...

Re: Ignorance is not bliss... Basic Training

I feel your pain :) This game has been around (and modded) for so long, much of the information is assumed to be known. FYI: Most of the data files (such as, equipment, efx & others) can be directly opened in a spreadsheet, no need to copy and paste; you just need to use the correct settings. I...

Re: Increasing AI prestige earnings later in scenario?

There are two ways to add prestige. With examples. 1) Scenario Params -> Sides : Prestige per turn 100 2) Scenario Params -> Scripts : Beginning of Turn [10 -1] ; Run Count = 5 ; Add Axis prestige 500 Which should give 100 points turns 1 - 9, 600 points turns 10 - 15, 100 points turns 16+. The Run ...

Re: Increasing AI prestige earnings later in scenario?

You can script prestige increases. Unfortunately, the script editor doesn't appear to do basic maths so you can't say [prestige boost = turn number x amount]. Instead you have to use a lot of repetition. So for example, script it so that one turn 1 add 25 prestige, another script adds 50 on turn 2,...

Increasing AI prestige earnings later in scenario?

Is there a way to increase the amount of prestige earned by the AI as turns go by? Something like 30/turn to start, jumping to 40/turn on turn 4, and then 50/turn on turn 7. I know that I can change the initial amount of prestige and the prestige per turn using the scenario editor, but I'd like to m...

Re: Editing out Aux Units in GC Scenarios?

Changing units is relatively straightforward so this is a good place to start. Good luck with that. When you are ready for the next (time consuming and highly addictive) step, there are some very good guides and discussions and helpful people that I've learned heaps from. Thanks for the kind words,...

Re: Editing out Aux Units in GC Scenarios?

Or could anyone offer some advice for an absolute newb on where/how to start? First there is a pdf manual for the editor, it is limited, but useful. It is included with the game. What you are asking to to do is very easy. Open the editor. Open the scenario you wish to edit. In the top menu Edit -> ...

Editing out Aux Units in GC Scenarios?

First, let me say that I've never done anything with the scenario editor before, so please word any answers like you're talking to a five-year-old. I hate auxiliary units, I think of them as XP/Kill thieves. I generally just send them to put their noses in a corner somewhere and then use the "c...

Re: Second artillery hero.

Also, I believe that the 75mm needs to be loaded onto a plane from an airfield. It might not be able to be deployed in a plane the same deployment phase that it is purchased. I could be wrong. It worked in the vanilla campaign, so it should in the GC. It may be a question of time. Possibly a few mo...

Re: Second artillery hero.

75mm is a great support weapon for paras, if the primary target is an airfield at which to land them. A +1 Move and +1 Range with some overstrength make them formidable in the rear areas supporting fallschirm. At what point does it become possible to transport 75mm by air? I tried on Oslo for that ...

Artillery: The Good: Attack, Range, Movement (In this order and they can be just so awesome to get every single time) Apologies for resurrecting this thread, but I don't understand this particular bit of advice. My understanding was that Range/Movement heroes were the preferred ones for artillery. ...

Re: Captured Units: Keep or Disband?

When you get the first T-34s in 1941, they were pretty strong compared with contemporary German tanks, let alone the 6 move. Pity that no chance to capture later models of T-34 though. The T-34s are strong compared to Panzer III & IV? Up to which version of the Panzers? Sounds like you got unlu...
