True, but I don't like the idea of forcing players to do all the responses across the entire table before doing any of the charges. It may be tidy, but it will usually be a very inefficient (time-wise) and unnatural seeming way of doing it. This is exactly how I've always played it (probably becaus...

This was an 'accident' but now I've seen it, it could easily be replicated deliberately.

It's bad enough with LH, but a lot of things can interpenetrate LF :D I really think the moving unit should stop where it stops and splits if neccesary, disordering both units.

Teleporting LH

LH were just outside a wood with a unit of LF in the wood in a 4 x 2 bg, perpendicular to and 2 inches behind the LH. The LH are charged and evade 3" - normal move in difficult terrain. All bases reach the LF and are teleported an additional 160mm to the end of the line of LF. I'm not sure what...

Charging from behind - ooer missus :)

From last nights game. My LH were facing my table edge. To their rear and approx 45 degrees angle were the enemy cavalry. As the rules stand I only have one choice for direction of flee - directly away from the charge. It seems odd that I can't flee to my 'front' as I'm facing that way anyway? With ...

Roger, you missed a few :) If a 4 loses 1 base they are a permanent -1 to CT's, the six doesn't. If a 4 takes 2 hits they take a CT at -1 due to 1HP2B, the six doesn't. 6 LH/LF shoot as effectively as a 4, no rounding loss for shooting. Non-shooty stuff doesn't suffer from many of the issues you hav...

I agree with you Lawrence - and not just because of the result with Richard :)

I don't see why we have to 'step' in 2's.

Great fun playing new players, btw. Always good to play people you haven't played before, and to learn something new each time!

Richard,

it's one of things I enjoy most about FoG. There are NO nailed-on certs from an army selection viewpoint - with a minor reservation about Poor quality troops. Everything seems to have it's place, and everything has it's nemesis!

A few thoughts after 20 or so games

After about 20 games of FoG I think I am begining to get a grip of the meta game. In general I am very happy with how the game plays/flows and other than the tweaking we are doing to the rules I only have one area where there is some concren. This is with troop pointing. Specifically Elite and Poor ...

I was thinking along the lines of the current rules with the addition (where the bit is about halting 1" away) that they may charge home if qualified by the bullet points above. ie. flank/rear etc.

Sorry but I don't profess to be able to word these things very well, even if I know what I mean :)

The point is that the LH could legally charge the rear of the engaged unit if nothing was in the way.

If an intervening unit successfully evades the LH MUST now halt 1" from the engaged unit. Feels totally wrong. They should be able to charge home.

Issue with Charging skirmishers

P.46 Attempts to charge with skirmishers, last para. "If any of the charge targets evade, skirmishers must halt .........." I had a situation where my LH were in a position to rear charge enemy (non-skirmishers) already in combat, in my next turn. If my opponent can manage to interpose som...

Having just re-read the rule as well :) (p.51) I would agree that it is clear.

I would, however, change bullet point 3 - "Provided that they do not shift more than one bsae ...." seems superfluous as bullet point two states you cannot shift more than a base width in any case?!

Yeh,

it came up because the restricted area is 2" but in orb you can only move 1". Didn't affect the game in any meaningful way.

Hammy,

you surprise me.

As you know we played our first few games at 25mm, and at 650pts we had no open flanks, hence shifting to 15mm at 800 for a better game.
