Re: Where the heck did Hannibal go?
Vakarr- Interesting solution to the terrain problem. The logic of it is very enticing. I've re-tried the Hannibal campaign again. The first thing that comes to mind is, Why is Hannibal ALWAYS outnumbered? Even against the Spaniards, in his own homeground, he's outnumbered. For his campaign he starte...

Re: Where the heck did Hannibal go?
I appreciate your replies, gamers. Thanks. Regarding terrain advantages, one of the first things I checked when deploying in my earliest games was that the game rewards the good use of terrain. So, of course, I utilize rough terrain in several ways. Missile foot, javelinmen, and scutari, for instanc...

Where the heck did Hannibal go?
Having finished the Rome and Caesar campaigns at Legate with only one lost battle, I stepped up a level for Hannibal. I'm thinking, "Yeah, I got this!". The first battle against the Volcae demonstrated that Carthage, in this game, has no viable troops other than elephants and Gallic warban...

Re: Over-powered Romans
OP, Know anything about the Caesar/Pompey meeting at Pharsalus? I daresay Pompey was no less astonished than you that his cavalry was routed because of a relative few Legionnaires in conjunction with Caesar's sparse cavalry contingent. If you attend to the basics in tactics you will find that the re...

Re: new player here
I've been playing only three days now. I fought the first two tutorials, won both. Moved the level up to Legate, then did the Rome campaign, won all until I got to Britain. Now I'm on Caesar's Campaign, about to face Pompey in Greece and I have not lost a battle since Britain. My point is NOT how go...

Re: Battle of Carrhae - Historical Simulation - Good joke
So, the OP uses an ahistorical deployment and achieves an ahistorical result. He exploits the map edges to counter cavalry and whines that the game is not a simulation. This is cognitive dissonance.

Re: Why Do Romans Deploy Checkerboard?
The Roman army evolved and developed over several hundred years of combat against their Italian neighbors and Gallic invasions. Over time they discarded spears for swords and freely borrowed weapon and armor tech from those they faced. For a long time their wars were fought relatively near Rome and ...

Re: About Generals dying
So, RNG, eh? I can accept that. Another 8 battles and there's been no replication of Pyrrhic deaths, although there have still been casualties. Thank you for the replies, all.

About Generals dying
I've played less than ten games, so, yes, I'm new. For the record, I play at Legate level and have yet to lose a battle, although I rage-quit the last one. I'm wondering if some factor of the game is bugged, specifically, Generals dying in combat. I've had two cavalry Generals killed this way and in...
