Thanks for the detailed feedback!

The way planes work is they automatically fly about, either on reconnaissance or close-air support, until they run out of fuel/supply, then fly back to their headquarters to refuel. Generally they start on top of a supply depot, which should be enough supply to keep them going (but will look into it). In future we may change them to wait for manual orders instead, and make them more impactful.

Next patch will have scouts not capture territory to be less annoying.

We definitely want to improve improve visibility of division statuses. The notifications will be improved, and your officers will pop up and give you important news (out of supply, losing a battle, etc).

Cherbourg second attempt. I tried to organize things better and won the scenario but took two days longer. One infantry holding ground on the left side, one holding ground on the right side. One infantry division seizing ground in preparation for 3rd AD to stage a breakthrough attack. That worked well except 3rd AD got cut off and stalled out until the infantry caught up with them and reopened the supply road. When 4th AD arrived as reinforcements, it went in and finished the job. At the same time I advanced with the two infantry divisions that were holding the line at first and took much more overall ground than I did in the first game. I also experimented by breaking 4th ID into separate units to go after troublesome German isolated units that got behind my lines. And I learned a lot more about stacking orders and remembered to start attacks with artillery barrages and give the air force multiple missions.

A couple of points.

I have a hard time determining the status of a division at any time, supply status, effectiveness, etc. I need to look at that harder. The same with the AI units.

It seems that the divisions are sometimes called corps. When I split up 4th ID I saw 4th ID and 4th Corps. And I saw a couple of other instances of division and corps seeming to be used interchangeably.

Bottom line. I am fascinated by the potential but a lot of things confuse me, lol. I captured Cherbourg and won the scenario but have lots of questions and felt like I was bumbling through the entire scenario.

I decided to do things incrementally and selected my infantry divisions to each make a pinning attack forward while sending the 3rd AD forward in the middle to encircle an area where I thought they would end up linking up with the infantry divissions. I did that even though it was probably not a good plan just because I wanted to see what would happen and how the AI would respond.

The infantry divisions didn't link up with 3rd AD and I think 3rd AD was destroyed but don't know for sure. But I continued forward and captured Cherbourg with the three infantry divisions, actually with the one in the middle of my broad advance. The game ended with me winning just before 4th AD , which had arrived as reinforcements, entered the battle near Cherbourg. During my advance German division broke through on my left, and I had to reallocate my infantry division on the left to handled that, isolating and destroying the German division. I was able to accomplish that. But I think I didn't do a really good job. Now I have questions.

IX TAC kept immediately running out of supplies. I don't know how to supply them better. They seemed to be virtually on a supply depot.

An enemy scout unit was operating in my rear area. A US scout unit wa sengaging it, but it temporarily captured a supply depot. I'm wondering if I should have broken off part of one of my infantry divisions to handle it.

I'm trying to figure out when and how I can change a plan or institute a new plan. It appears that it is every day at dawn when a new planning phase pops up. And that I get one emergency plan change each day. Is that correct?

When I pushed 3rd AD too far forward it got isolated and out of supply. And then I was no longer able to give it commands and the on screen icon vanished. But I couldn't figure out how to see what its status was.

I'm going to play that scenario again and try to make more sense of things.
