scenario_name = Kipyong-ni - Race to the North

// DESCRIPTION
scenario_descr = In an effort to cut off large numbers of the enemy, Hank Fisher's 35th Infantry Regiment would move out at once. His armored spearhead would be the 89th Tank battalion. Colonel Dolvin was given two companies of the 1/35, a group of engineers, some self-propelled weapons, and ordered to take the highway to Kunsan. He was ordered to head north and keep going.|For tanker Dolvin, this was the first opportunity his outfit had been given to show the capabilities of a mobile, well-armed force. No more defending. Now the tanks and armored infantry would rip through the enemy and cut him off.|Dolvin was determined to let his men show their stuff. They would hit the road Patton style and sow fear in the ranks of a disorganized retreating enemy and swallow great swaths of real estate. His two biggest worries were ambushes and land mines. Any tanks lost to mines would be left behind. They could be gathered later. They would not be going anywhere.|He would not wait for the engineers to rebuild any bridges or throw up sandbag crossings. He would simply find a ford, get across the rivers, dry out the ignitions and move onward.|Task Force Dolvin moved in just the way he anticipated.|Resistance came in patches, often at populated areas. The force just kept pushing. By early on the 28th of September, the tanks rolled into Kunsan. In three days, they had covered 136 miles. So delighted was Walker with the rapid advance that he awarded Dolvin a Distinguished Service Cross for his heroic roll northward.
