scenario_name = Buying Time on the Salla-Kemijarvi Road

// DESCRIPTION
scenario_descr = While the majority of the Red Army engages in heavy fighting for the Mannerheim Line in the south, the RKKA 9th Army launches several attacks in the Lapland area, in northern Finland. These attacks aim to flank Finnish defences and isolate the capital Helsinki from the center and the northern parts of the country. They pose a great threat to Finnish forces since most of the army is committed in the south and Field Marshal Mannerheim is having a hard time finding reserves to counter the Russians in Lapland.||One target of the 9th Army's offensive was Salla, a municipality in Lapland near the Soviet border. The Soviet 122nd Rifle Division, followed by the 88th Division, crossed the Finnish-Russian border on 30 November and began its march westwards. Their orders were to roll through Salla to Kemijarvi and capture Rovaniemi in two weeks. From there they were to advance to Tornio, on the border with Sweden, and cut Finland in two.||The Finns had nothing but one border battalion in the area (the 17th Separate Battalion) at the start of the war. The 17th Battalion was crushed under heavy attacks and the Russians had no difficulty in capturing Salla by 9 December. ||Finnish Command reacted by forming the Lapland Group under the command of Major General Kurt Martti Wallenius. It is comprised of one regiment, several separate battalions, and a couple of batteries of artillery, approximately 3,500 men.||From the Lapland Group comes an ad-hoc battlegroup (osasto) under the command of a Major V. Roininen. This task force comprises the remnants of the 17th Battalion, the 26th Separate Battalion and the 40th Infantry Regiment. The group has also been joined by a number of Swedish volunteers. ||It is now 17 December. Major Roininen's task is to stop the enemy advance before it reaches the lake town of Kemijarvi. Osato Roininen must set up roadblocks on the Salla-Kemijarvi Road in order to delay the 122nd Division. They must buy Finland precious time.

// BRIEFINGS
briefing_2_0 = It is well known that the Soviets are on their way to Kemijarvi. No doubt their preferred route is this road here, leading directly west.
briefing_2_1 = But there are two other primary roads leading out of this area. One leads northwest to Myllykumpu, at which point their column would turn southwest to Kemijarvi, and the other runs due south to Tonkopuro. They turn right in that village and the way is open all the way to Kemijarvi. Those two routes are out of their way but we cannot overlook the possibility of the enemy choosing one or both of them.
briefing_2_2 = We have set up roadblocks at three key intersections. This one here guards the road to Myllykumpu. It is designated Roadblock A.
briefing_2_3 = Roadblock B covers the direct route to to Kemijarvi. It is likely that the enemy will head this way but unless their commander is a complete idiot, we can assume that he will send some of his troops in the two other directions.
briefing_2_4 = Here is Roadblock C that stands in the way to Tonkopuro. None of these roadblocks can fall into enemy hands. They are vital to containing the Soviet column here until additional forces can be brought in to destroy them. If none of the Soviet units escapes to the northwest, west, or south for the duration of this battle, it will be a great victory for us. So fight a delaying action that gradually hardens around these roadblocks.

// TRIGGER TEXTS
event_trigger_8_20_title = Swedish Volunteers
event_trigger_8_20_text = Several groups of Swedish volunteers have joined us. They are yours to command, Major Roininen. Be sure to deploy them all immediately.
event_trigger_6_61_title = The Prize
event_trigger_6_61_text = Congratulations on downing those enemy bombers! Pääesikunta (Defence Command) is so pleased with the results that they have assigned a Dornier DO-17Z bomber unit to our operations.
event_trigger_0_51_title = A Bit of Firepower
event_trigger_0_51_text = Two of our artillery units have arrived. What a sight for sore eyes! Get them into action immediately!
event_trigger_3_6_title = Enemy Bombers!
event_trigger_3_6_text = Soviet SB-2 Tupolev bombers have been reported. In response, HQ has authorized two aircraft units to support us (additional command points). Since we now have an objective to shoot down the bombers, better make them fighter squadrons.

// OUTCOME EVENTS
outcome_2_0_title = Major Defeat
outcome_2_0_text = This was no contest. The enemy thoroughly defeated us and did so with relative ease. It's not an embarrassment, as we knew our troops were no match for them. Still, it is a bitter pill to swallow.
outcome_2_1_title = Minor Defeat
outcome_2_1_text = This was no contest. The enemy thoroughly defeated us and did so with relative ease. It's not an embarrassment, as we knew our troops were no match for them. Still, it is a bitter pill to swallow.
outcome_2_2_title = Draw
outcome_2_2_text = The objectives were to hold the roadblocks and prevent Soviet units from breaking through our lines. Failure in one goal meant failure in both because the situation is now quite untenable.
outcome_2_3_title = Minor Victory
outcome_2_3_text = Never mind the enemy bombers, although it is difficult to think why that objective was not achieved. Regardless, we stopped the Soviet advance, for now at least, and that is quite an achievement.
outcome_2_4_title = Major Victory
outcome_2_4_text = Celebrations all around! A complete victory, indeed. The Soviet advance is halted, at least for now, and for once we are masters of the sky. Again, at least for now. Well, here's to glory. Bottoms up!
